Bio

Júlio Santos is a Brazilian Percussionist from São Paulo and based in Boston-MA. Graduated in 2016 from Berklee College of Music, Julio works as teacher at Saint Anthony School, Everett-MA, and as music artist for YAMA (Young Audience of Massachusetts).

Júlio participated in some Brazilian and Latin jazz albums with musicians such as Wendy Rolfe, Fernando Brandão, Flavio Lira and recorded an awarded children album with Sulinha Boucher’s “Sulinha Trio”. With the trio Julio performs weekly in libraries around Boston in this thrilling project focused on children’s cognitive development in interactive performances. Júlio also works on his own projects called Grupo Camarote (a Brazilian Band that sings also in English and Spanish) and lead Beat and Groove Club (A percussive drumming group).

He performs in the New England area and has accompanied artists in the U.S such as Alcione, Marcos Valle, Neguinho da Beija-Flor, Dudu Nobre, Leandro Lehart etc.

In Brazil Julio Graduated at Souza Lima College, attended and paraded with Mocidade Alegre and Rosas de Ouro Samba Schools and was part of the before/after school program Called Menino’s do Morumbi where he started as a student and then became music instructor. More than 5.000 Children of all ages went to Meninos do Morumbi to learn music as a tool against poverty and social exclusion. Celebrities such as Former President George W. Bush, Madonna, John Mayer and more went to visit the successful program.
